Port Authority audit slams agency's finances PDF Print E-mail

Five years ago, the U.S. Interior Department Inspector General’s office released a scathing review of the V.I. Port Authority’s procurement practices. The semi-autonomous agency ignored competitive bidding requirements, the report found, and did not have complete records for millions of dollars in contracts.

Things have not changed since then, according to the Inspector General.

The Interior Department’s latest audit, released Tuesday, found that the Port Authority “continues to disregard its own internal rules and regulations in the selection of contractors and the award of contracts for capital improvement projects.”
