Introduction:

Since February 2009, OIGs Recovery Oversight Office has conducted more than 90 training sessions and briefings related to fraud, waste, and mismanagement of Recovery Act funding.  Descriptions and links to slideshows on training topics follow below.

This extensive national effort has reached a combined audience of over 7,000 Department of the Interior employees in all bureaus receiving ARRA funds, including contracting and grant personnel, project managers, engineers, finance personnel and others; award recipients, and the auditing community.

Below is a listing of training briefings, which can be viewed and downloaded:

1.  DOI OIG Fraud Awareness Briefing:  This briefing provides an overview
     of the DOI Recovery Oversight Office (ROO), Fraud Indicators, and other
     information in an efforet to deter and mitigate fraud.

2.  DOI OIG Whistleblower Protection Awareness Briefing:   The Recovery 
     Act brought new protections for nonfederal employees reporting the
     waste, fraudulent use, and mismanagement of recovery dollars.  The
     DOI-OIG's Whistleblower Protection Awareness presentation offers an
     overview of protections from employer retaliation for certain nonfederal
     employees.  More than 500 DOI contracting officers, program
     managers, and budget and finance personnel have participated in these
     presentations.
