Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits
Melanie Sorenson is the Deputy Assistant Inspector General of the Audit Division for the U.S. Department of Interior (DOI) Office of Inspector General (OIG). She began her career as an auditor with the DOI OIG over 25 years ago and has performed audits, inspections, and evaluations of a multitude of DOI programs and operations.
Melanie has served in several leadership roles throughout her career, to include the Deputy Director of the Acquisition Integrity Unit. In that role, she managed reviews of DOI procurement and financial assistance functions. She also served as the Deputy Director of the Program Integrity Division, where she oversaw assessments of DOI law enforcement and security programs.
Melanie received a bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Western State Colorado University and master’s degree in policy management from Georgetown University.
