Description
The October 2015 Semiannual Report to Congress summarizes the Office of Inspector General’s successful work completed from April 1, 2015, through September 30, 2015. To promote excellence, integrity, and accountability within the programs, operations, and management of the U.S. Department of the Interior, we focused our attention on high-priority areas like climate change, energy, grants management, operational efficiencies, information technology, water, bribery and corruption, theft of Government funds, false statements, and fraud.

Our audit-related activities resulted in total monetary impacts of $6,937,889, with 91 recommendations made and 200 recommendations closed. Our investigative activities resulted in 242 months of jail time, 168 months of probation, and $5,585,287 in criminal penalties and $1,191,000 in civil settlements and $68,278.64 in civil recoveries.

We look forward to continuing our excellent work in fiscal year 2016 to provide objective, timely, and actionable reports to our customers and stakeholders.
