Kimberly E. McGovern

Assistant Inspector General for Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations

Kimberly E. McGovern is currently the Assistant Inspector General for Audits, Inspections, and Evaluations (AIE) at the U.S. Department of the Interior's Office of Inspector General. Prior to assuming her current role in 2007, she served as the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Audits from 2002-2005 and the Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations from 2005-2007. Ms. McGovern began her Federal career in 1984 as a student working in the Budget Office of the National Transportation and Safety Board.

Under her direction, AIE examines the programmatic functions of the U.S. Department of the Interior, promoting effectiveness, efficiency and economy in the Department's programs and operations. She also is responsible for the planning, execution, and reporting for technology evaluations and financial audits.

Ms. McGovern has received numerous awards for her leadership and contributions to promoting the integrity of Federal programs. She has earned an M.P.A. from Georgetown University, an M.S. and B.B.A. from Harding University, and is also a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.
