Alleged Improper Promotion of Senior U.S. Park Police Official Unfounded

OIG investigated an allegation that a senior official with the U.S. Park Police (USPP) improperly promoted a former USPP senior official. It was alleged the former senior official retired shortly after the promotion to accept a job with the National Football League (NFL) and that the USPP senior official promoted the former senior official in order to obtain the NFL job upon his own retirement.

We found no evidence to support this allegation. We determined that the former senior official was the only applicant for the USPP position and met the position’s qualification requirements. In addition, we determined that the USPP senior official had not received a job offer from the NFL at the time of retirement.
