Alleged Unauthorized Government Purchase Card Use by Senior BSEE Official

We investigated allegations that a senior official from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) requested and approved multiple unauthorized purchases for personal gain using a Government purchase card. We determined that the BSEE official directed and approved $20,272 in purchases without approval, but we found no indication that the official personally gained from the purchases. We also discovered the official altered records and made false statements in his official personnel file. No prosecution resulted.
