OIG investigated an allegation that a retired Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) employee had issued more than $6,000 in convenience checks to a day laborer employed by BIA’s Papago Agency. Investigators found that check usage had been authorized, and that a problem occurred only because the employee did not know how to properly submit the necessary tax information.
