Former USBR Employee Allegedly Violated Ethics Statute

OIG investigated allegations that a former U.S. Bureau of Reclamation (USBR) civil engineer attempted to influence a project that he substantially participated in while employed with USBR.

 

The former employee did attend a workshop on behalf of his new employer; however, we found that the ethics opinion that would have kept him from attending the workshop was not sent to him prior to his attendance. We also found that a USBR area field manager, who is married to the civil engineer, properly distanced herself from contract negotiations with her husband’s employer. We referred our report to USBR for information only.
