Description
OIG investigated allegations that two Grand Canyon National Park (GRCA) law enforcement rangers conducted improper searches and that another ranger was aggressive in his use of force. We could not determine whether one of the rangers improperly searched a GRCA visitor during a traffic stop because the search was not recorded, but it appeared that the ranger exceeded Federal law enforcement standards for conducting personal searches. We also did not substantiate allegations that a second ranger improperly searched the contents of a GRCA visitor’s car during a traffic stop, or that a third ranger used excessive force on a GRCA visitor and a concessions employee.
This is a summary of an investigative report that we provided to the National Park Service Director for any action deemed appropriate.
