Investigation of Alleged Altered Digital Images Submitted to BLM Alaska State Office

OIG investigated allegations that a company operating oil wells on a Federal lease in Alaska submitted altered digital photographs to deceive the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and avoid possible penalties or additional costs necessary to comply with a BLM written order. Using digital image authentication, we found no indications the photographs had been altered or edited. We provided our investigative report to BLM for information only.
