OIG investigated an alleged complaint that a Chevrolet Tahoe, purchased by a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Special Agent in Charge (SAC), had been fitted with accessories costing in excess of BLM purchasing guidance. The complaint alleged that the SAC spent $16,500 to outfit the vehicle. Our investigation found that BLM policy sets only minimum requirements for outfitting unmarked vehicles and permits SACs to install additional equipment using discretionary funds.
