Report Information

Date Issued
Report Type
Investigation
External Entity
National Park Service
Description
OIG investigated reports that National Park Service (NPS) employees at the Canaveral National Seashore (CNS) violated the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) by exceeding micro-purchase thresholds and avoiding fair and open contracting procedures. We found that CNS staff conducted a remodeling project without completing the formal contracting procedures required under the FAR. We also discovered that the CNS chief ranger split credit card purchases to avoid exceeding the micro-purchase threshold and that the vendor invoiced the work using separate bills for the same reason.
