Description
OIG investigated allegations that a former U.S. Geological Survey employee submitted fraudulent claims for travel reimbursement under the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act. The employee received travel vouchers totaling approximately $30 for each round trip he made between his home and a wellness center where he received treatment, in addition to $475 each year since 2009 for a gym membership at the wellness center. According to the complaint, the employee submitted travel vouchers 6 days per week, every week.
We obtained and compared historical records from the wellness center against the dates of his travel claims and identified no instances of fraud. We found no evidence to support the allegations of fraudulent claims.
