Investigation of Former Bureau of Land Management Firefighter

OIG investigated allegations that a former Bureau of Land Management (BLM) seasonal firefighter, who received supplemental income from the Office of Workers Compensation Program (OWCP), misreported his wages from outside employment and performed work that was beyond his OWCP medical restrictions. 

 

We did not find that the former employee defrauded OWCP. His outside income was minimal and justified according to OWCP. OWCP did terminate his supplemental income after he accepted a new position and completed his term of employment with the Government. We referred a summary of our investigation to BLM for information only.
