Description
OIG investigated a National Park Service employee after a proactive analysis of U.S. Department of the Interior workers’ compensation data, which indicated that the employee may have been inappropriately collecting workers’ compensation benefits.
While we found that the employee did not engage in any criminal misconduct, our investigation revealed a recent second medical opinion that decreased the employee’s work restrictions and included a comprehensive rehabilitation program that could improve his condition. This information was provided to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs for consideration in an evaluation of the employee’s claim. We provided a report on our investigation to NPS for information only.
