Investigation of Reprisal at the BIA Southern Plains Region

We investigated allegations that a Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) regional director retaliated against a BIA supervisor in response to the supervisor complaining to OIG about the regional director. Our investigation did not reveal evidence of retaliation or reprisal by the regional director against the supervisor, nor did it show that the supervisor had complained about the regional director. We did identify multiple Equal Employment Opportunity and hostile work environment complaints filed against the supervisor by BIA employees, and that the regional director worked with the appropriate BIA officials to investigate those complaints and take appropriate administrative action.
