Investigation of Theft from the Eastern Shoshone Tribe

We initiated this investigation based on allegations that John Enos, former Director, Shoshone Oil & Gas Commission (Commission), Ft. Washakie, WY, stole funds from the Commission.

 

Our investigation found that Enos, while serving as the Director, stole from the Commission and in April 2016, he pled guilty to a single count of 18 U.S. Code § 1163 - Embezzlement and Theft from Indian Tribal Organizations in U.S. District Court for the District of Wyoming. He was sentenced to 60 months’ probation, and was ordered to pay restitution.
