The OIG investigated allegations that a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employee inappropriately requested and controlled the auction of a Government vehicle, allowing him to purchase and immediately resell the vehicle for profit. Additionally, the complaint alleged the employee misused Government facilities, equipment, and his Government charge card.
We did not find any inappropriate involvement in the auction of the Government vehicle. The BLM leased the vehicle from the General Services Administration (GSA), and GSA, not the employee, decided to sell the vehicle. The employee purchased the auctioned GSA vehicle, and he was not prohibited from doing so. We did not substantiate the allegations related to misuse of Government facilities, equipment, or his charge card.
