OIG investigated allegations that a National Park Service (NPS) employee submitted an altered Standard Form 50 (SF-50), Notification of Personnel Action, with his job application in 2012. The altered form omitted a reference to the employee’s termination from another Federal agency due to a criminal conviction.
Our investigation confirmed that the employee altered the SF-50. We also learned that NPS managers learned of the issue in 2013 and confronted the employee, who admitted to submitting the altered form. NPS suspended the employee for 14 days. During our investigation the employee transferred to another Federal agency. We referred our findings to that agency, which declined to pursue the matter further.
