Independent Inspector General 's Report - DATA Act Readiness Review for the U.S. Department of the Interior

We reviewed the status of the DOI's efforts to implement the DATA Act according to the eight steps in the "DATA Act Implementation Playbook." As of August 31, 2016, DOI was not on track to implement the DATA Act requirements by the Act's May 2017 deadline. We found that DOI is relying on a software upgrade that will not be completed on time due to vendor delays and is 6 months behind on the timeframes recommended in the playbook.
