Recommendations for the Report, “Bureau of Land Management’s Oil and Gas Inspection and Enforcement Program” (CR-EV-BLM-0001-2009)

OIG found that its recommendation that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) implement a Data Integrity Plan for its Automated Fluid Minerals Support System (AFMSS) had been completed. As requested by the recommendation, the plan includes data entry controls, expediting data entry, and enabling inspectors to enter data remotely. These changes help ensure the reliability of inspection data in AFMSS.

To verify implementation of its recommendation, OIG reviewed supporting documentation provided independently to the Office of Financial Management, which previously closed the recommendation and indicated it had been implemented.

OIG informed BLM officials of the results of its verification on September 18, 2017.
