The April 2015 Semiannual Report to Congress summarizes the Office of Inspector General's successful work completed from October 1, 2014, through March 31, 2015. To promote excellence, integrity, and accountability within the programs, operations, and management of the U.S. Department of the Interior, we focused our attention on high-priority areas like energy, Indian affairs, revenue enhancement, public safety and security, bribery and corruption, theft of Government funds, false statements, and wildland firefighting.
Our audit-related activities resulted in total monetary impacts of $39,083,030, with 173 recommendations made and 62 recommendations closed. Our investigative activities resulted in 513 months of jail time, 708 months of probation, and $5,497,163.76 in criminal penalties and $2,539,560.72 in civil settlements.
We look forward to continuing our excellent work in the second half of fiscal year 2015 to provide objective, timely, and actionable reports to our customers and stakeholders.
