Assistant Inspector General for Investigations

Matthew Elliott is the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations for the U.S. Department of the Interior Office of Inspector General. Mr. Elliott has been at Interior since 2014 and was previously the Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations.

Prior to joining the Department’s OIG, Matthew was the AIGI at the National Archives OIG and Government Publishing Office OIG. Matthew began his Federal career as a criminal investigator with the National Archives OIG.

Prior to joining the OIG community, Matthew was enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Military Police Corps as a military customs inspector and a criminal investigator with the Criminal Investigation Command, commonly known as CID. Matthew holds an M.S. in forensic science and a B.S. in counseling.
